so, a little updating. When i last wrote we had just done baseline, and now we are continuing physical training at 6 am 4 days a week. i accidentally got into the middle group and am not in the slow group. maybe i'll get in better shape this year? have been surviving 6am workouts just fine so far. its messing with my head getting up when its still dark though. that means when i wake up to roll over in the middle of the night i am immediately paranoid that its time to wake up even though its still dark. its kind of funny.
we have been doing training training training for the whole week. we did safety training, tools training and meetings training. and the fun part is we get to sit through a lot of them again when the corps members come. blehh...but one thing at a time.
we found out our units on friday. If i haven't mentioned before, the team leaders are split into four units: blue, green, gold and silver. i am officially on blue unit and am pretty excited about that. our unit leader is meg, who also leads PT, so i have had some contact with her. i'm sure she will be great at motivating us throughout the year. apparently unit and team reveals are a big deal around here and they like to do them in creative ways. so they gave each of us an envelope with three foam puzzle pieces and we had to find the other people with the pieces that matched. then the unit leader put in the final piece. this is such a funny contract to meeting after meeting at my old job. creativity is encouraged and generally enjoyed by the group. hopefully some of this creative energy will rub off on me.
it was also two people's birthdays on Friday so we had some cake, which is always great. but its also great to see the group coming together and being so friendly so quickly.
on saturday a few of us went over to san francisco for the day. highlights include stinky sea lions on fisherman's wharf and a walk on the golden gate bridge.
