i don't think food stamps for people serving in AmeriCorps should be controversial. in fact i don't think food stamps for most people that get them should be controversial. of course there are people who work the system that make all honest people who utilize the system properly look bad. but AmeriCorps members get paid so little and do so much. I will always advocate for people utilizing the resources available to them as long as they follow assigned guidelines. Food stamps for a single person average $200 monthly. If an AmeriCorps member can use that $200 to pay rent or have heat for the winter or pay for their gas to get to work...I support you!
