8.4.11

Cell phones have ruined talking on the phone. There are a few reasons. (always a list, you know me)
1. People do it everywhere! nothing is private. or everything is public. depends on how you look at it. what once has the possibility of an intimate conversation from the easy chair next to your family phone in the living room is now broadcast in the halls of schools, movie theaters and grocery stores. lots of talking but not lots of true connections.

2. remember when the one phone in the house (before cell phones and caller ID) rang? remember the feeling of anticipation gave you? (unless it was during dinner, then you knew it was a solicitor) Remember how fun it was to pick up the phone with no idea who was on the other end? it could be anyone! grandma, the neighbor, hell, the president, you didn't know. now cell phones (and caller ID) tell you who is calling and you can choose whether you have the time/energy to answer the call at that moment. does anyone else ever wonder if someone sees their name on the caller ID and thinks "oh i can't do this right now." ?

short list. it was on my mind.

that is all.
