So we have completed 2 full weeks here at Green Light New Orleans (http://www.greenlightneworleans.org/). So far it is a nice relaxing project for our last round. Good way to wrap up the year.
Each corps member has been given a specialty role to keep them busy. Some examples are marketing, education, scheduling, and outreach. We have been working to support fishermen who have been out of work because of the oil spill by doing targeted outreach to them in eastern parishes where they live. Green Light received a grant from Entergy to do 150 homes and we have done 40 so far.
We are also working through the existing waiting list installing light bulbs all over the Greater New Orleans area. We sometimes see some funny things in our travels. One day this week we saw two mini horses in people's yards, had a friendly puppy try to come home with us in the van, saw 2 kittens and a potbelly pig on the way home.
Really enjoying the easy transportation into New Orleans in our time off.
