10.30

i have a few thoughts stored up for this blog, but I will start with what is most fresh in my mind. Freak snowstorm in NJ (the whole northeast?) yesterday left people surprised, confused and with some damages. in Trenton we got about 2 inches of slush and retained power the whole time. i am convinced that God passes Trenton over with the worst of the weather because Trenton just can't really handle it.

the storm did not miss basking ridge and liberty corner. we arrived at church to have some of the power on, but not enough to conduct the contemporary service. we attended the traditional service, which is an old favorite of mine. while at church i listened and observed as others recounted the damage from the storm. people complained of power outages, downed trees, slippery roads.

and i just couldn't help but think that sometimes God wants us to sit still. what would be so awful about staying in for the day? about eating the food in your fridge before it goes bad instead of going out for more before you need it? about roasting marshmallows in the fireplace for dinner? what would be so awful about missing work tomorrow? pretty sure the world would continue to spin, as it should. just some thoughts from the day
