first of all, happy summer solstice. this is the longest day of the year. what are you doing with it?!
this past weekend p and i went to cape may and met one of my college roommates and her husband. they left their young child at home for some true relaxation (although she was invited, i swear!) we spent some time on the beach and strolling the quaint town. we did some bird watching, which turned into muskrat and rabbit watching. we ate a lot of food and got a little sunburned. 2 things stood out to me about this weekend:
1. so glad i am still friends with a. and so glad she found such a wonderful man to marry! i hope all of you experience the joy of a friendship that evolves over time yet somehow stays the same. you know, the kind and you can pick up right where you left off, however much time has lapsed between visits. wonderful.
2. the jersey shore is more than the tv show shows. sure, there are shore towns where the booze flows like water and the beach is polluted with guidos and self tanner. but during our 36 hours in cape may i did not experience a single drunk person, blow out or fist pump (aside from our own car dancing). i think nj's new slogan should be NJ: not what you were expecting.
